Demo limitation

In the demo, the upload UI works as you can drag in a .zip and see the success state, but the file isn't actually processed. Your dashboard continues to show the seeded example data. Once the backend is connected, your real upload will populate the dashboard.

Step 1: Request your data from Spotify

1. Go to spotify.com/account/privacy and sign in.
2. Scroll to Download your data.
3. Tick the box for Extended streaming history.
   • You can leave Account data unticked, Unwrap doesn't need it.
4. Click Request data.
5. Confirm via the email Spotify sends you.

Account data vs. Extended streaming history

Spotify offers two downloads. The default "Account data" only covers the last year. The "Extended streaming history" goes back to when you created your account. Unwrap needs the extended one to give you a full picture.

Step 2: Wait for Spotify's email

Spotify will email you when your data is ready, usually within a few days but sometimes up to 30. The email contains a download link valid for a limited time.

Click the link, download the .zip file, and don't unzip it.

Step 3: Upload to Unwrap

1. Sign in to Unwrap and go to the upload page.
2. Drag the .zip file onto the upload area, or click to browse.
3. Wait for processing to finish.

File requirements

• The file must be a .zip from Spotify's Extended Streaming History export.
• Other file types will be rejected.
